Only two more days to go now before I begin my 200 Miles in 14 Days. That’s still plenty of time to share the Facebook page and sponsor me though.

I had hoped this week would be full of psyching myself up, preparing, making sure I’ve got the right gear. Things never work out exactly as one would hope though; at least, that’s been my experience. Work has presented one or two challenges which has led to me desiring nothing more at the end of the day than to put my feet up. True, I have had time to print and laminate all of my maps, and, to be honest, I’ve already got most of my gear ready. It would, admittedly, show pretty poor planning on my part if i didn’t have the necessary gear two days before the event.

So what more do I need to do? I need a compass. That’s one thing I’m short of. I’ve had a few compasses over the years, but they’ve found their way into the Scouts’ collection. The other thing I need to do is, well, walk. Walk rather a long way. I really am looking forward to that though. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and I’m looking forward to once more seeing the many and varied sights of the four corners of Leicestershire. I’m hoping to meet some people along the way as well – even when I walked half of the Round in the autumn two years ago I met a fair few people.

Anyone who knows me, or anyone who doesn’t know me for that matter, is welcome to say hello along the route, or even join me for a mile or two. I’ll be starting each day at 9:00am – check my itinerary and the route map for when and where I’ll be. Anyone who’s got my mobile number can text me for my position as well. I won’t be carrying any money (other than a couple of quid for a pint at the end of the day perhaps), just in case any potential muggers are reading this.

Two days then….
