I can’t wait to start now. Just over a week to go. I can’t wait. I’ll have to, obviously. That’s always struck me as a strange phrase when used in situations where the person obviously has to wait, has no choice but to wait, but still says that they can’t wait.

Anyway.

I can’t wait. Very much looking forward to two weeks of thinking about nothing but putting one foot in front of the other, and possibly a bit of navigation. Yes, there will be pain – stiff muscles, blisters, the usual stuff – but that’s as nothing compared with the pain the people of Nepal have been through, are going through, will continue to go through.

I feel myself very fortunate that I have a circle of friends, acquaintances and family who are so generous that I have achieved 162% of my original target for fundraising already. And I thank each and every one of you who has sponsored me, bought merchandise at Leire fête and has shared words of encouragement with me. Thankyou all.
