January always used to be a real anticlimax. After Christmas, it was like a very long, slow Monday morning – a necessary evil to get me into the year, which would begin in February. But, for the last decade, I’ve had our panto to save me. Having something to focus on, something big which requires a lot of attention, has been fantastic. I’m a lazy person (given the opportunity), so having a specific, time-hungry commitment is just brilliant. I don’t have time to wallow or moan, I have to act.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Once again, L&D’s performance was fantastic. The best yet, a few people (me included) have said. And now, after the mania of rehearsals, and after I’ve put everything away, cleaned the house (for the first time this year), done the washing, and put my feet up, I have time to reflect.<\/p>\n

2016 was a very busy year, and you’ll know (especially for those who’ve read my unshared blog posts) it’s not been without turmoil. But, although I put a lot in to Scouting, I recognise I’ve hardly scratched the surface. At least I get to see the immediate results at grass-roots level, and I owe a lot to those further up the chain of command.<\/p>\n

The more you do, the more you can do. I believe that, and perhaps it was time I started putting it into practise.<\/p>\n

Oh, and, once again, I hate REO Speedwagon.<\/p>\n
