Certainly not too testing today – a canal walk, so the only gradients being the odd short climb up a lock.

We set off from my house, and along the Grand Union into Leicester. It’s actually a really pleasant walk, doing what canals do best – taking the countryside into the city. From Glen Parva, past Fosse Park, and almost all the way into the centre, the canal follows a green corridor – Aylestone Meadows and the Soar flood plain – so it’s pretty much rural idyll until you come to the university halls and the Leicester FC ground.

Even the more urban stretches of the canal are fairly well presented and served with benches and are far more pleasant to walk along than you might expect a city centre canal to be.

Anyway, that’s another 14.6 miles training done, and my legs are currently feeling fine.
